Urgent animal problem?

Fast Help When an Animal Is Inside or Causing Damage

Call if an animal is actively inside the living space, trapped in a vent, making noise in walls, damaging a roofline, creating odor, or repeatedly entering the same area. We can talk through what is happening and what kind of response makes sense.

Important: Do not seal an opening until you know whether animals may still be inside. Closing the wrong hole can trap animals in walls, attics, vents, or chimneys.

How the work usually starts

Removal, Exclusion, and Prevention

A good animal control visit is not just about removing what you see. The property also needs to be checked for the reason animals got in.

1. Listen and Locate

We start with the signs: timing of noises, where activity is happening, damage, odor, droppings, or visible entry points.

2. Inspect Entry Points

Common areas include rooflines, soffits, vents, chimneys, crawl spaces, basements, garages, utility gaps, and attic openings.

3. Remove or Evict

The immediate goal is to handle the current animal problem in a practical, humane, property-focused way.

4. Prevent Return

We explain exclusion, repair, cleanup, and prevention options so the same problem is less likely to keep coming back.

Where animals get in

Common Entry Points Around NYC and NJ Properties

Animals often use small construction gaps, damaged exterior materials, loose covers, roof edges, or openings that were never fully protected. The visible animal is only part of the problem; the entry point matters too.

  • Attics and roofline gaps
  • Soffits, fascia, and eaves
  • Chimneys and chimney caps
  • Bathroom, dryer, and kitchen vents
  • Basements and crawl spaces
  • Garages, decks, and sheds
  • Utility penetrations and foundation gaps
  • Solar panels, awnings, ledges, and signs

We live in Princeton Junction and had a mother raccoon with her baby settled in our fireplace. I called Frank on Saturday at noon and he came out later in the afternoon that same day to help us, even though it was a rainy day. After successfully extracting the raccoons, Frank was kind enough to fix the entry point and also point out other areas on the roof that are vulnerable to wild animals. We will definitely use Frank to fix these areas as well. I highly recommend his services. Frank is very knowledgeable, skilled at his job and explains everything thoroughly.
Response from the owner:Hi Kim, Thank you for the wonderful review. We’re glad we could help with the raccoon family in your fireplace and get everything taken care of before it became a bigger problem. Finding and securing the entry point is just as important as the removal, and we’re happy we could also identify other vulnerable areas to help protect your home from future wildlife issues. We truly appreciate your trust and recommendation, and we look forward to helping you with the rest of the wildlife proofing when you’re ready. Best The Team at Animal Control NY/NJ

Frank and his team came same day. I had some pests that were coming into my home from the outside. Frank identified thier entrance and exits points and started working on blocking it off same day. His experience and talent is top notch. He and his team know general construction which helps when you have holes that need to be sealed without ruining the home's facade. I have called them for another job as well 2 years ago. Both jobs required construction skills. I am very pleased with the outcome. Thank you Frank 🙂
Response from the owner:Hi Edoble2, Thank you for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review. We’re glad we could quickly identify the entry points and get everything sealed up before the problem got worse. Having a background in construction allows us to make repairs that not only keep wildlife out but also preserve the appearance of your home. We truly appreciate that you’ve trusted us on more than one occasion. That means a lot to us. Thanks again for your continued support, and we’re always here if you need us in the future. Frank was exceptional helping us with a squirrel problem. He made the trip out late at night in southern NJ, found the gaps, and setup a great system to trap the problem. All while my son was asking him a million questions and he was patiently answering. Value his expertise, attention to detail, and managing a problem that is not an exact science. Highly recommend Frank!
Response from the owner:Hi John, Thank you for the thoughtful review. We know squirrel problems aren’t always straightforward, so we’re glad we could get out there, find the entry points, and put together a plan that solved the problem. Frank also enjoyed answering your son’s questions. Future wildlife expert in the making! We really appreciate your trust and recommendation. If you ever need us again, we’re just a call away. Questions customers ask

Animal Control FAQ

What should I do if I hear scratching in the attic?

Avoid sealing openings until you know whether animals are inside. Call and describe the sound, timing, and location so the next step can be planned.

Can animals get into vents, chimneys, and soffits?

Yes. These are common entry and nesting areas for birds, squirrels, raccoons, bats, rodents, and other wildlife.

Who handles wildlife removal in NYC and NJ?

Animal Control NYC and NJ helps property owners with nuisance wildlife removal, inspection, exclusion recommendations, animal damage concerns, and prevention-focused service.

Do you help with prevention?

Yes. Removal is only part of the issue. We can explain exclusion recommendations, vent protection, roofline concerns, and repair options.

Should I seal an animal hole myself?

Do not seal an opening until you know whether animals are still inside. Sealing too early can trap animals and create odor, noise, damage, or baby animal issues.

Do you work with buildings and commercial properties?

Yes. We help homes, apartments, managed buildings, storefronts, restaurants, offices, warehouses, and commercial properties with animal entry and prevention concerns.
